This report is the first in the country to examine publicly funded caregiver support programs in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. It explores programs provided through the Older Americans Act’s National Family Caregiver Support Program, Aged/Disabled Medicaid waiver programs, and state-funded programs. It highlights key findings, offers state-by-state profiles, pinpoints challenges, identifies issues for the future, and expands recognition of family caregiver needs as distinct from the needs of care receivers.

Family Caregiver Alliance, in collaboration with the National Conference of State Legislatures, has released The State of the States in Family Caregiver Support: A 50-State Study. The study--a two-year project--is the first to examine publicly funded caregiver support programs in all 50 states and the District of Columbia since the passage of the landmark National Family Caregiver Support Program (NFCSP) in 2000.
