HELPING CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS UNDERSTAND DEMENTIA
Free East Bay workshops for caregivers
Family Caregiver Alliance will present a free workshop for parents who also care for someone with dementia. This workshop will explore the experience of caregivers “in the middle” ─ trying to understand and manage what is happening to their family member while simultaneously trying to explain it to their children. The program is offered in Walnut Creek and Oakland.
Participants will learn about dementia and its impact on individuals and families; feel more confident communicating with children about what is happening with grandma, granddad, or parent; learn best ways to interact with someone with dementia; and provide a forum to discuss their own and their children’s emotional reactions to the disease.
