The National Consensus Development Conference for Caregiver Assessment was convened by the National Center on Caregiving at Family Caregiver Alliance September 7–9, 2005 in San Francisco. The event was an intense and productive two days for the invitees, all key leaders in the field, with multi-disciplinary perspectives on the issues.

Funded by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, with additional support by the Archstone Foundation and The California Endowment, the ground breaking conference generated fundamental principles and guidelines to advance caregiver assessment nationally and in each state, and to serve as a catalyst for change at federal, state and local levels. A White Paper, Tool Kit, agency briefings and other products are forthcoming.
