Financial Steps for Caregivers: What You Need to Know About Money and Retirement The Women’s Institute for a Secure Retirement, in partnership with the Administration on Aging and the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging, has published a report to assist caregivers in making financial decisions and enhancing their financial security. The publication discusses budgeting, medical care costs, reverse mortgages and dilemmas caregivers may face while active in the workforce.  Resource for Individuals Working with Personal Assistance Services A new resource from the University of California, San Francisco entitled Working Together: Personal Assistance Training and You is available for individuals seeking in-home personal assistance from a hired worker or a family caregiver. The comprehensive online resource provides information and tools for assessing needs; creating a work agreement; and hiring, supervising and firing an assistant. Home Modifications for Aging in Place with an Intellectual Disability The Center for Architecture and Building Science Research at the New Jersey Institute of Technology recently released a new resource guide entitled A Home for Life. The guide contains a comprehensive description of typical obstacles to safety and independence that exist in the homes of older people with an intellectual disability. It also offers a range of recommendations for addressing these problems through home modifications and assistive technologies. The National Institute on Aging has a newly revised booklet, Talking with Your Doctor: A Guide for Older People.
