The four factor model of depressive symptoms in dementia caregivers: A structural equation model of ethnic differencesCitation Roth, D., Ackerman, M. L., Okonkwo, O., C. & Burgio, L. D. (2008). The four factor model of depressive symptoms in dementia caregivers: A structural equation model of ethnic differences. Psychology and Aging, 23(3), 567-576.
Purpose The purpose of this study was to determine the fitness of the multifactor model and explanatory contributions of multifactor models of the CES-D (Center for Epidemiological Studies) Scale for caregiving samples. Differences in depression among different ethnic groups was also investigated. Participants The participants of the study were N=1183 (out of a total of N=1229) from the initial Resources for Enhancing Alzheimer's Caregiver Health Study (REACH 1). Procedure Baseline data from N=1183 participants was analyzed. Outcomes The authors concluded that the 4-factor model provided excellent fit to the observed data. Significant race differences were found on 3 of the 4 latent factors both before and after controlling for demographic covariates. Author Roth, D., Ackerman, M. L., Okonkwo, O., C. & Burgio, L. D. |
