WV- Staffing Ratios and Training for Nursing Homes (2011)

This bill would implement minimum staffing ratios at nursing homes and would mandate the creation of a committee to examine staffing ratios at least once every five years. The bill also would increase the minimum hours of training for direct care workers to 75 hours of classroom training and 85 hours of supervised practical training. To reduce turnover, the Dept. of Health and Human Resources will administer a grant program to provide grants to partnerships focused on reducing direct care worker turnover.
