ME- Amend the Rules Concerning Long-term Care Services To Better Support Family Caregivers (2011)

This bill, as enacted, requires the Dept. of Health and Human Services to engage stakeholders and create a written, uniform contract that could be used by family members who are caring for a relative. The goal is to meet the eligibility requirements of Maine's Medicaid program (MaineCare) and the financial eligibility rules. Previous versions of the bill directed the department to adopt a less strict approach to analyzing asset transfers when a person applies for MaineCare, but the enacted legislation was more concise.
