MA- Paid Sick Days (2011)This bill would allow employees to earn up to a minimum of 7 paid sick days a year (or a percentage thereof). The sick days can be used for self-care for the employee (including to address domestic violence issues), or for the employee's child, spouse, parent, or parent of spouse. An employee earns one hour of sick time for every 30 hours worked. Hours that are not used can be carried over year-to-year, but employers are not required to provide more than seven paid sick days per year. When possible, the employee is required to give advanced notice (seven days) to their employer if they are taking leave.
