Heroes at Home Act (2007)

Federal bill would improve the diagnosis and treatment of traumatic brain injury in soldiers and veterans of the Armed Forces by assessing their cognitive functioning before they are deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan and once they return, as well as by expanding telehealth and telemental health programs. The bill also requires the Department of Veteran's Affairs to establish a program to provide training and certification to family caregivers as "personal care attendants" of veterans with traumatic brain injury. Caregivers with such certification would be eligible for compensation.
