National Silver Alert Act (2011)Bill would establish a national Silver Alert communications network within the Department of Justice to assist regional and local efforts in finding missing seniors. In addition, a DOJ officer would serve as the Silver Alert Coordinator to work with states. Grants would be made available to states for support of Silver Alert plans, and national standards for issuance of alerts would be created. The act appropriates $10 million for each year, FY 2012 through 2014. Kristen's Act, Title II, attached to this bill, funds grants for a national resource center on missing older adults and is appropriated $4 million each year, from FY 2012 to FY 2014.
