ME - Expanding Long-Term Care Services (2009)

Bill includes expansion of long-term care services based on suggestions by the Blue Ribbon Commission to Study Long-term Home-based and Community-based Care. Among other things, the bill would increase funding for home and community-based services, including consumer-driven programs, in order to reduce waiting lists; call on government agencies to develop a unified budget for the delivery of long-term care to elders and disabled adults; and encourage a comprehensive and systematic approach to training and providing reimbursement and benefits for direct care workers.
