WA - Paid Family Leave for New Parents (2007)
Bill would provide workers up to five weeks of paid leave, at $250 a week for full-time wokers and less for part-time workers, due to the birth or adoption of a new child. The bill also created a joint legislative task force to determine how the new program should be financed and administered. Provisions to allow workers to take leave to care for a seriously ill family member were taken out of the bill before final passage. As of October 2009, the program still has not been implemented.
