Faculty and students in the School of Nursing are engaged in research addressing a variety of contemporary clinical and health policy questions. Interdisciplinary research teams are focusing on developing knowledge that will support nursing practice, health care innovations and policy change. How does it work? The Savvy Caregiver is a 12-hour training program delivered in 2-hour sessions over a 6-week period. Curriculum includes a detailed trainer's manual, a caregiver manual, a training videotape, and a CD-ROM. There are additional versions as the program has been replicated and adopted to meet the needs of specific populations. Why is it successful? In evaluations from the original study and the program versions, participants report increased caregiver skill, knowledge and confidence. Results also indicate better caregiver well being.
