Organization: Edisto Island Outreach Center
EIMAS, a non profit charitable agency, functions under the auspices of the parent organization Edisto Island Outreach Center. Missionaries from 17 churches on Edisto Island provide the support for the senior respite program. Location: Edisto Island, South Carolina How does it work?
EIMAS' mission is to provide the underserved "memory loss" community members an opportunity to be cared for in a safe environment while providing respite services to their caregivers. Why is it successful?
EIMAS provides much needed respite services on the island for its home-bound elders. In addition, the agency provides monthly trainings, social events and exercise programs to the island's caregivers. EIMAS has also become a catalyst in educating the community about Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. |
