The Memory Tree

The Memory Tree provides creative and experiential workshops in art, poetry, music and yoga to Early Alzheimer's individuals and their caregivers.

The Memory Tree is a project of the Early Alzheimer's Foundation Inc., a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) foundation. The Memory Tree is New York City's first program devoted to people with mild memory loss, and their family and caregivers.

How does it work?

The Memory Tree meets once a week in a class/workshop format and offers people with Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers a variety of activities: Interactive Art viewing, Music and Poetry sessions and discussion of memory loss with health care specialists.

Why is it successful?

Since the program's inception in 2006, there have been 250 classes given with 2500 people who attended. The program has been running at full capacity and has a waiting list for over one year. Evaluations report 100% satisfaction, with 75% of participants "Very Satisfied" and 25% "Satisfied".
