Ahead of the Curve: Emerging Trends and Practices in Family Caregiver Support (2006)

The report highlights three emerging trends in policy and public programs that impact family caregivers: 1) caregiver assessment; 2) consumer direction in family caregiver support services; and 3) collaborations in caregiving between the Aging Network and the health care system. The paper draws on findings from FCA's 50-state survey of 150 publicly funded programs with a caregiver support component conducted in 2003, and it is supplemented by further research into specific states and programs. In addition to providing relevant background information and research regarding each emerging trend, the report provides specific case examples of each trend .
