The Need for Monitoring the Long-Term Care Direct Service Workforce and Recommendations for Data Collection (2009)

The paper provides recommendations for states in maintaining a stable and skilled direct care workforce. The first recommendation is to collect adequate data on the workforce, including the number of full-time and part-time direct service workers in the state; the stability of the workforce, including turnover and vacancies; and the average wages and benefits of workers.
