NJ- Physician's Order for Life-Sustaining Treatment Act (POLST) (2011)

This bill implements the Physician's Order for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST) program. The POLST protocol requires a health care professional to discuss available treatment options with seriously ill patients (or their surrogates), and these preferences are then documented on a standardized medical form that the patient keeps with them. (Note: Bill was originally introduced in July 2010, an amended bill was substituted in May 2011)
