Improving Care for Vulnerable Older Citizens through Workforce Advancement Act (2011)
Through this amendment to the Older Americans Act, the Assistant Secretary of Aging would oversee a program and provide grants to eligible organizations to enact demonstration programs focused on care coordination and service delivery redesign for older individuals with chronic illnesses or at risk of needing institutional care. These demonstrations would focus on the inclusion of direct care workers to improve the quality of care
and service delivery. They would also help improve opportunities for career advancement for direct care workers through additional training, expanded roles, and increased compensation.
