Strengthening Services for America's Seniors Act (2011)

This bill would change existing programs funded by the Older Americans Act. A voluntary grant program would be created and housed in the Administration on Aging to fund programs to assess family caregivers and connect them with supportive services (for example counseling and respite). The bill would also make changes to the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program and would expand the National Ombudsman Resource Center and require states to ensure that nursing facility residents have private and unimpeded access to ombudsman services. The program would also create an Advisory Committee to assess and improve legal programs funded under the Older Americans Act.
