Family Caregiver Alliance Releases New Fact Sheets On Long-Term Care Issues
SAN FRANCISCO—August 8, 2002—Family Caregiver Alliance has released two new Fact Sheets for caregivers of loved ones with Alzheimer's disease, stroke, Parkinson's disease or other chronic disorders. Additionally, updated versions of three existing FCA Fact Sheets are now available.
The Fact Sheet "Caregiving and Depression" discusses how the demands of caregiving can lead to feelings of exhaustion, isolation, and ultimately, clinical depression, and offers advice on how caregivers and their families can recognize the symptoms and seek appropriate treatment.
"FAQ for LGBT Caregivers" uses a question-and-answer format to address some of the unique concerns facing caregivers in the Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/ Transgender (LGBT) community.
FCA's newly updated Fact Sheets include "Community Care Options," which describes the financial, legal and social services available in the community for families providing care at home, and the Fact Sheets "Alzheimer's disease" and "Early-Stage Alzheimer's disease."
All Fact Sheets include contact information for helpful resources and recommended reading lists for families and healthcare providers.
The Fact Sheets are available free on FCA's website, at www.caregiver.org.
