What Is Included and Excluded in This Database?

What is included?

The programs and organizations in FCA's Family Care Navigator are chosen for their usefulness for family caregivers of older people and adults with disabilities.

You'll find that most of the resources are run by government agencies, nonprofit organizations or professional membership organizations. They are national, statewide, or available in multiple counties. Search engines, telephone hotlines and tools to help locate local nursing homes, support groups and home care agencies are also included.

We review entries annually, updating their descriptions and web addresses as needed. If you would like to recommend a site, please contact us (but please read the information below).

What is excluded?

Resources that provide services at the local community level only and are not found using a national/state-wide search tool are excluded. Resources are also excluded that focus on:

- Children (e.g., parenting, child care)
- Persons with developmental disabilities
- Mental illness
- Medical treatment, such as hospitals and clinics
