National Competition Recognizes Outstanding Programs Helping Alzheimer's Families and Caregivers

Winning programs awarded $20,000 each from Family Caregiver Alliance and The Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation

SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Four remarkable nonprofit programs that address the needs of caregivers for people with Alzheimer's disease have won the 2015 Rosalinde Gilbert Innovations in Alzheimer's Disease Caregiving Legacy Awards. The winning programs, selected in a national competition, will each receive $20,000.

Online applications now open for the 2015 Gilbert Awards

Family Caregiver Alliance (FCA), with the ongoing support of The Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation, is pleased to announce that online applications for the 2015 Gilbert Innovations in Alzheimer's Disease Caregiving Legacy Awards are now open.

This will be the eighth year the $20,000 prize has been awarded in each of three categories: Creative Expression, Diverse / Multicultural Communities, and Policy and Advocacy.

FCA applauds the Senate passage of the Older Americans Act that reaffirms the need for supporting older adults and their family caregivers. With the shifting demographics across the country and the growing need to support the 40 million unpaid caregivers that contribute an estimated 37 billion hours of care, the Older Americans Act contains vital services and support to those family members, neighbors, and friends who form the community network of care to enable older adults to remain in the community.
