Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV): Older adults

Printer-friendly version

In Texas, drivers are not obligated to disclose any health condition that might impede them to operate a motor vehicle. However, when a driver self-reports the DMV and Department of State Health Services are required to open an investigation.

License renewal occurs every 6 years. Older adults (age 85+) must renew in person every 2 years.
