LGBT Older Adults and Dementia Care: A Consumer Perspective Webinar
FCA brings you a special webinar on dementia and the LGBT older adult population that is grounded in evidence-based literature, causal observation, and anecdotal experience from the perspective of someone with Alzheimer’s in the LGBT community. The goal of this webinar is to highlight selective critical issues facing aging LGBT Dementia Consumers and offer concrete creative ideas to help improve dementia care.
Presenter: Lou A. Bordisso, Ed.D., LMFT:
Dr. Bordisso was diagnosed with younger-onset Alzheimer’s disease in 2010 at the age of 56. In the past year, his neurologist has added a Lewy Body Dementia diagnosis. As a Marriage and family therapist for more than twenty-five years, Bordisso maintains a limited private practice providing psychotherapy, pastoral counseling and spiritual care. This is a unique opportunity to gain perspective on the complexities of dementia care surrounding LGBT older adults from someone who has experienced it first hand.
