FCA’s annual Claremont Caregiver Respite Retreat: Thank you Richard Essey!

Printer-friendly version

For over 10 years, FCA has coordinated a special respite retreat for the agency’s caregiver clients. The retreat is generously sponsored by former caregiver, philanthropist, and chairman of TemPositions, Richard Essey. Held over three days and two nights at the historic Claremont Resort in Berkeley, this year’s event took place in mid-August.

The Claremont Caregiver Retreat allows FCA’s caregiver clients to receive a full spa treatment and use of the Claremont’s facilities, including fitness classes, pool, and lap pool. Most meals are included and caregivers are invited to share their retreat time with a non care receiver guest. The retreat begins with a reception joined by Richard Essey and FCA’s education coordinator, Calvin Hu.

Richard Essey’s support for the retreat honors both his wife Sheila and his experience as a family caregiver. He is a National Trustee of the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association (ALSA) and the founder of The ALSA Bay Area Chapter. In 2013 he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the ALS Association. To read more about Richard Essey, click here.
