Arizona Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV): Older adults
Drivers are responsible for reporting to the DMV any medical condition that may affect the ability to operate a motor vehicle safely. The DMV is required to investigate the self-reported conditions, reports received from law enforcement, and medical professionals. These reports are used to determine if the driver needs a re-examination of driving skills or written testing, or medical or psychological evaluation. The “Reporting an Unsafe Driver” is available HERE.
License renewal occurs every 12 years, older adults (age 60+) must be reevaluated every 5 years.
