Tennessee Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV): Older adults
Driver are not required to self-report any medical condition that may impede their driving skills. There are no direct regulations on mandatory reporting for individuals with cognitive or physical impairments. However, the DMV is required to investigate reports received from law enforcement, family, and medical professionals of unsafe drivers. Drivers are then required to provide adequate documentation from their primary physician to obtain or renew their license.
License renewal occurs every 5 years.
