Washington Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV): Older Adults
Physicians, family, and friends can report unsafe drivers by submitting a “Driver Evaluation Request” available HERE. However, there are no direct regulations on mandatory report for individuals with cognitive impairments.
Adults drivers (age 55+) are encouraged to take a collision prevention course to assess their knowledge and ability to operate a motor vehicle. The approved courses are available HERE.
License renewal occurs every 5 years. Senior driver’s (age 65+) must apply for license renewal in person.
