Adult Day Health Care (ADHC)

In California, over 300 ADHCs are licensed by the state to operate community-based day health care programs for those at risk of being placed in a nursing home. They provide a variety of health, therapeutic, and social services including:
- Medical services
- Nursing services
- Physical, occupational and speech therapy
- Psychiatric and psychological services

Care Recipient Eligibility: 

Medi-Cal recipients age 18 or older who have:
- a medical condition requiring services (but not 24-hour care) prescribed by a physician
- difficultly with activities of daily living
- a high potential for placement in a nursing home if Adult Day Health Care is not available
- Live within a site's service area (the ADHC website lists the geographic regions served)

* If not eligible for Medicare and/or Medi-Cal, anyone may pay privately for services
