Comprehensive Paid Family Leave Program

Provides California employees up to six weeks of paid leave in order to care for a seriously ill family member or to bond with a new child. Workers receive 60% or 70% depending on income, with lowest wage workers receiving 70% of normal wages.

Caregiver Eligibility: 

Must have been a full-time or part-time worker who paid State Disability Insurance (SDI) taxes

Care Recipient Eligibility: 

Caregivers must leave work to:
- Care for an ill spouse, child, parent, parent-in-law, registered domestic partner, grandparent, grandchild, or sibling.
- Or to bond with a new baby, adopted child, or foster care placement.
