October 2014
Vol. 5, No. 10
"If you find it in your heart to care for someone else, you will have succeeded." -Maya Angelou
Here at FCA, we want to remind you how important your role is as a family caregiver. Although the road may not be easy, find solace in the fact that you are making a difference in someone's life.
October is LGBT history month, and we want to announce that FCA has partnered with several other organizations to provide an educational program for February 2015 on the caregiving issues and needs of diverse LGBT older adults with dementia/Alzheimer’s Disease from communities in the SF Bay Area, Peninsula and neighbor communities. Please stay tuned for more information! In addition, you will find several resources for caregivers as well as upcoming caregiver events/classes in the Bay Area.
*If you are no longer a caregiver and/or would not like to receive these monthly updates, please respond to this email and let us know that you'd like to be taken off of our mailing list, thank you!*
Sincerely,
AJ Dugay
(Education Coordinator)

Do you have a family member who is near the end of life, and who lives away from you? |
Oxford Brookes University - 10/13/2014 |
Oxford Brookes University is conducting a study exploring the views and experiences of people who have a family member nearing the end of life who lives away from them, making visits difficult, whether in a different town, state, or even a different country.
The views and experiences of distance caregivers are an under-researched area. This is why we need volunteers for a short online survey, so that we can learn what people who are providing support to such a relative need.
This study is part of a PhD at Oxford Brookes University (UK) and has been approved by England's National Health Service (NHS) Research Ethics Committee. All responses will be treated as strictly confidential and later anonymised.
If you would like to learn more about this study, or know someone who might, please follow this link: https://brookeshls.co1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_57rCDTlSu2ZVrqR, or email the Chief Investigator Carolina at [email protected].
