BFCC-QIO Services for Medicare Beneficiaries and Caregivers
This session introduces Commence Health’s role in serving Medicare beneficiaries, including an overview of the Beneficiary and Family Centered Care – Quality Improvement Organization (BFCC-QIO) Program. Presenters introduce Commence Health’s case review services for discharge and service termination appeals and quality of care complaints, as well as Commence Health’s immediate advocacy program.
This session also addresses how patients and families can better understand their Medicare rights, become empowered to successfully navigate the healthcare system, and access Commence Health’s services through its Medicare Helpline.

Presenter: Bryan Fischer, Outreach & Education Coordinator, serves as a primary liaison between Commence Health and healthcare providers, stakeholders, beneficiaries, and families. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in historic preservation from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia and has been with Commence Health since 2015. He formerly served as assistant dean of admissions at Villa Julie College in Stevenson, Maryland. Before joining Commence Health, Mr. Fischer worked for the Department of Defense as a senior technical editor.
