Collaboration expands access to proven tools and resources for families caring for individuals with dementia
Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging and Family Caregiver Alliance are very pleased to welcome the Alzheimer’s Association as a new partner in Best Programs for Caregiving (BPC), the national database designed to help professionals and family caregivers identify and access evidence-based dementia support programs.
Through the partnership, which runs from 2026 through 2028, the Alzheimer’s Association will support the continued growth and visibility of BPC, helping ensure caregivers have access to trusted, high-quality resources. The collaboration aims to make it easier for families to find and access proven caregiving support. Together, partners aim to:
- Increase awareness of proven resources available to family caregivers
- Connect families to support earlier in the caregiving journey.
- Encourage adoption of proven models by healthcare and community organizations.
“This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to adqvancing high-quality, evidence-based support for caregivers,” said Lauren Stratton, Ph.D., director of psychosocial research and program evaluation at the Alzheimer’s Association. “By working together, we can expand access to proven programs and ensure families navigating dementia have the resources they need.”
As a partner, the Alzheimer’s Association will collaborate closely with the BPC project team to advance caregiver support efforts. This includes participating in ongoing working groups, co-authoring research on caregiving programs, increasing awareness and use of evidence-based resources, and potentially incorporating the Association’s evidence-based programs into the BPC database.
“We are proud to welcome the Alzheimer’s Association as a partner in Best Programs for Caregiving,” said David Bass, Ph.D., Senior Vice President of Research & Education at Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging. “Their leadership in dementia care and support will help strengthen the reach and impact of evidence-based programs, ensuring more caregivers can access proven tools and resources when they need them most.”
Best Programs for Caregiving is a free, online national directory of rigorously evaluated programs that have demonstrated positive outcomes for dementia caregivers. The platform enables users to:
- Search for programs by ZIP code or delivery format.
- Compare options based on outcomes such as stress reduction, care skills and well-being.
- Access enrollment details, eligibility and cost information.
Originally developed to help healthcare and community-based organizations identify and implement effective interventions, the initiative expanded in 2024 to serve caregivers directly.
