Join Us to Learn How Free Ombudsman Programs Support Long-Term Care Residents

August 26, 2024

Live webinar on August 29 from 11:00 AM to Noon (Pacific Time)

Moving a loved one from their home into long-term care can be an emotionally fraught decision. If you’re considering options for long-term care, you may be comforted to know that residents have access to a network of independent advocates.

The San Francisco Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program offers free and confidential services for residents of nursing homes, board and care homes, and assisted living facilities, with the goal of ensuring their dignity, quality of life, and quality of care.

On August 29 from 11:00 a.m. to noon (Pacific Time), FCA will host a webinar led by Victoria Cormack and John Edmiston of Felton Institute’s San Francisco Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program. In this hour-long online event, participants will learn about ombudsman programs, the services they offer, and even how to volunteer.

“It’s a scary decision to put someone into long term care,” said Victoria. “It’s nice to know that when they get there, there’s an advocate for them to help ensure they will be treated with dignity and respect, and receive the care they need in a safe and caring environment.”

Participants in the discussion will learn:

  • How the long-term care Ombudsman program came about
  • Long-term care environments supported by the Ombudsman program
  • Common complaints concerning resident health, safety, welfare, and rights
  • How to become a volunteer Ombudsman
  • And more

Register today to join the discussion and learn about this free resource for your loved one, family member, or friend in long-term residential care. To learn more, visit the San Francisco Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program and the Felton Institute online.
