Are you a family caregiver for a loved one living with Alzheimer’s or dementia and own an iPhone?
Researchers at UC San Diego (UCSD) and UC Los Angeles (UCLA) are collaborating on a research study to learn whether data collected from smartphones can help detect risk for developing a disease of the brain later in life, such as Alzheimer’s disease, in family caregivers.
We are looking for interested caregivers who are 40 years old and older and are the primary caregiver of a family member or significant other living with dementia or Alzheimer’s.
You’ll be asked to download two apps to your phone and use them for a period of 60 days:
- A smartphone keyboard that tracks your typing patterns (never what you type) and gives you a score that helps you track your cognition function throughout the day.
- An app that has you complete weekly cognitive tasks and asks you to provide a free speech sample.
Participation includes two virtual Zoom visits:
- App set up + baseline assessment
- Questionnaires + App removal (occurs 60 days after using the apps)
Other inclusion/exclusion criteria include:
- Must have an iPhone
- Not a paid, professional caregiver
Earn up to $100 for your time!
