Are you the family caregiver of stroke survivor looking to improve your mental wellbeing? Please join us!
I am John Yiu, a doctoral student at the Wright Institute in Berkeley, California. As part of my dissertation research, I would like to invite family caregivers of stroke survivors to join a therapy group based on the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) model. In this five-week, 1.5-hour group, you will learn skills to: 1) cope with the distress of daily caretaking responsibilities; and 2) build a life consistent with your values while taking care of your loved one. You will also receive peer support from your fellow caregivers.
The therapy group will be conducted via HIPAA-compliant Google Meet and is FREE. Please join us if you: 1) age 40 or above; 2) are living with the stroke survivor, and spending at least 70% of your time on caregiving activities; 3) have been caring for the stroke survivor for at least 6 months, including 2 months post-discharge; 4) do not have any active suicidal/homicidal ideation; 5) are not currently receiving psychological intervention; and 6) have access to computer/tablet and internet connection.
There will be a 20-minute screening session to determine your eligibility for participation.
Please contact the researcher (John Yiu) at (510)974-3626 or jyiu@wi.edu for registration or any questions. You can also register using the following link:
