IRIS (Include, Respect, I Self-Direct) Program

Wisconsin’s IRIS program is part of the Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services Waiver. This program offers a “self-directed personal care” option, which allows the care recipient to direct their care to someone of their choice. Certain family members, excluding spouses and legal guardians, are allowed to be compensated as the personal care provider. 

Program is only available in Columbia, Fond du Lac, Kenosha, La Crosse, Milwaukee (serves the elderly population only), Ozaukee, Portage, Racine, Richland and Sheboygan Counties.
