FCA Online Support Groups
Family Caregiver Alliance offers three different online support groups for caregivers and their loved ones:
- The Caregiver-online support group is an unmoderated group for families, partners, and other caregivers of adults with disorders such as Alzheimer’s, stroke, brain injury, and other chronic debilitating health conditions. The group offers a safe place to discuss the stresses, challenges, and rewards of providing care for a loved one. Read the FAQ. Subscribe to Caregiver-online here.
- The LGBT Community Support: Caregiving for our Families and Friends support group offers a place for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender caregivers of adults with chronic health problems to discuss the unique issues of caring for their loved ones. Read the FAQ. Subscribe to LGBT Community Support: Caregiving for our Families and Friends here.
- The Link2care support group offers a place for caregivers living in California and those caring long-distance for a loved one living in California. Read the FAQ. Subscribe to Link2care here.
We also offer insight on the value of support groups (a blog post from a 2011 series, "30 Days of Caregiving"), and a how-to on starting one yourself (article uses Brain-Impaired Adults as the topic). Our Grief and Loss fact sheet can be a helpful resource to discuss in most caregiving support groups.
Smart Patients Caregivers Community in partnership with Family Caregiver Alliance
FCA has partnered with Smart Patients to create this new Caregivers Community so that caregivers and other loved ones can join the community for free to share, interact, and learn from each other in a safe, supportive environment. And family caregivers of adults with chronic physical or cognitive conditions such as Alzheimer’s, stroke, Parkinson’s, and other illnesses can share their own expertise with this new community. By partnering with Smart Patients, we are helping empower caregivers to improve care for themselves and others.
Join the Smart Patients Caregivers Community, ask a question, and support others who can learn from you.
