Statement on the Passage of the RAISE Family Caregivers Act

As family caregiver advocates for 40 years, Family Caregiver Alliance recognizes the passage of the federal Recognize, Assist, Include, Support, and Engage (RAISE) Family Caregivers Act as critical to the creation of a strategy to acknowledge and aid unpaid family caregivers on a national level.

We wish to thank Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), and Rep. Gregg Harper (R-MS) and Rep. Kathy Castor (D-FL) for their bi-partisan efforts to pass the RAISE Act.

Two Recent Retreats for Caregivers

On Saturday, May 13, 38 local caregivers participated in a free FCA Take Time for YOU! Caregiver Educational and Respite Retreat at the historic Richmond Country Club. This retreat was offered thanks to a generous grant provided by Contra Costa County. During the retreat, caregivers learned about self-care and had the chance to enjoy activities that included journaling, yarn making, and flowerpot decorating with FCA Family Consultant Amanda Hartrey, LMFT.

Three Outstanding Programs in Alzheimer’s Caregiving Honored at AiA17 Conference

Blank, Jr., were honored to present the 2016 Rosalinde Gilbert Innovations in Alzheimer’s Disease Caregiving Legacy Awards last week at a reception at the Aging in America (AiA17) conference in Chicago.

Family Caregiver Alliance (FCA) and The Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2015 Rosalinde Gilbert Innovations in Alzheimer’s Disease Caregiving Legacy Awards. Four remarkable nonprofit programs that address the needs of caregivers for people with Alzheimer’s disease won in three categories: Creative Expression, Policy and Advocacy, and Diverse/Multicultural Communities.
