Family Caregiver Alliance (FCA)
FCA support and assists families and caregivers through education, advocacy and services. In addition to providing training to technical assistance to California’s Caregiver Resource Centers, FCA hosts the National Center on Caregiving (NCC). Home and Community Based Services: Elderly (E) Waiver
Iowa’s Elderly Waiver is a Medicaid waiver that allows family members, excluding spouses and legal guardians, to be hired and paid for personal care services. Other services may include:
- Case management

- Homemaker/Chore services
- Respite
- Transportation
- Nursing care
- Emergency response system

Home and Community Based Services: Health and Disability (HD) Waiver
Iowa’s Health and Disability Waiver is a Medicaid waiver that allows the care recipient to pick and choose their personal care attendant- certain family members may be eligible- who is able to assist with skilled and/or non-skilled services such as tube feedings, monitoring medications, injections, dressing, hygiene, transferring, eating, feeding, etc.. Other services may include:
- Home and vehicle modifications
- Home delivered meals
- Home health aide
- Nursing care
- Respite
- Nutritional counseling
- Personal emergency response system
